Before you use Viril-X

When you must not take it
Do not take Viril-X if you have an allergy to:
- any complementary medicine containing any of the ingredients included in Viril-X.
- any of the ingredients.
Some of the symptoms of an allergic reaction may include:
- shortness of breath
- wheezing or difficulty breathing
- swelling of the face, lips, tongue or other parts of the body
- rash, itching or hives on the skin
Do not take this complementary medicine after the expiry date
printed on the label or if the packaging is broken or shows signs of tampering.
If you are not sure whether you should start taking this complementary medicine,
talk to your healthcare professional.
Before you start to take it.
Viril-X is generally an extremely safe complementary medicine.
There is evidence that Viril-X may reduce blood clotting, therefore if you suffer
with bleeding disorders where clotting is not sufficient, or you are on medication
that prevents blood clotting, you should speak with your medical
professional before you start using it.
If you are going to have surgery, you should tell the surgeon or
anaesthetist that you are taking this complementary medicine.
This complementary medicine is not suitable for women who are
pregnant or breast-feeding.
Taking other medicines
Tell your healthcare professional that you are taking this complementary medicine and if you are
taking any other medicines, including any that you get without
a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop.
Do not take this complementary medicine if you are taking anti-coagulant
medication such as warfarin for high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease.
How to take Viril-X
Follow all directions given to you by your healthcare
professional or on the label carefully.
The directions given by your healthcare professional
may differ from the information contained in this product information or the label.
If you do not understand the instructions on the label, ask your healthcare professional for help.
Directions
Adults: Take 1-2 tablets twice daily, or as professionally prescribed.
Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water. If you have
trouble swallowing the tablet because of its size, break it.
This complementary medicine may be taken with or without meals.
How long to take it for
There is no known limit as to how long this
complementary medicine may be taken for. If you are concerned
about the length of time that you have been taking it, consult your healthcare practitioner.
If you wish to stop taking this complementary medicine, there is no need to
reduce the dose gradually; you may stop it all completely at once.
If you forget to take it
If it is less than 5 hours before your next dose, skip the dose you missed
and take your next dose when you are meant to.
Otherwise, take it as soon as you remember, and then go back to taking your
complementary medicine as you would normally.
Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose that you missed as it
may cause diarrhoea and/or nausea.
If you are not sure what to do, ask your healthcare professional.
If you have trouble remembering to take your complementary medicine,
ask your healthcare professional for some hints.
If you take too much (overdose)
It is most likely that taking too much Viril-X would not have serious
consequences, however if you start to experience nausea,
indigestion or diarrhoea you should speak to your healthcare professional
because you may need medical attention.
While you are using Viril-X
Things you must do
If you are about to start a new medicine,
remind your healthcare professional that you are taking Viril-X.
Tell any other healthcare professional who treats you that you are taking this complementary medicine.
If you are going to have surgery, tell the surgeon or
anaesthetist that you are taking this complementary medicine.
It may affect other medicines used during surgery.
Ask your healthcare professional to answer any questions you may have.
After using Viril-X
Storage
Keep your tablets in the bottle until it is time to take them.
If you take the tablets out of the bottle they may not keep well.
Keep your tablets in a cool dry place where the temperature stays below 30*C.
Do not store Viril-X in the bathroom or near a sink. Do not leave it on a window sill or in the car.
Keep Viril-X where children cannot reach it.
A locked cupboard at least one-and-a-half metres above the ground
is a good place to store complementary medicines.
